Description

Can Jaakko Keränen make a similar software for playing
games like "Redneck Rampage" and "Duke Nukem 3D"?

As hardware manufacturers no longer support Windows 9x
series properly, DOS games are become less accessible
from day to day, because Windows 9x was the best friend
of DOS and "BLASTER" feature of sound cards.
On the other hand, graphic cards supporting OpenGL are
become more and more available. In addition, Linux is
more popular than ever, and it supports OpenGL well.
Porting the old games to the attractive OpenGL
environment is very interesting for old-games fans.

I fully understand the situation, but I'm way too busy with other
things (and Doomsday itself) to take on any more projects.

Source code availability is also an issue with some (most?) of the
Build games. Duke Nukem's source code has been released,
and there are projects out there that work on improving it.

Yes, there are projects like "GLBuild", but I love only
Jaakko's softwares; I hope we have something in the future
for "BUILD Engine" games (when you have more free time).

The best thing that I can tell you is to get JonoF's Duke3D
port of the Build engine. There's a community making hi-res
textures all the time for the game and even 3D models are
incorporated just like the Doomsday Engine. I can't remember
the address off the top of my head and I'm here at work or I'd
post the link. Do a search on the internet to find it.
