Zoomed out automap... in corner?

Description
Firstly:
It would be nice with the automap being by default
zoomed out. That's seems to be the most prefered view
anyway, and it's annoying to do this for each map.
Second:
What about having the automap centered in one of the
corners instead of being in the middle in overlay mode?
Maybe more zoomable than it is now.
